Head, Division of Radiation Oncology

The University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine (FoM) and The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) invite applications and nominations for the above noted position. The Division of Radiation Oncology delivers high quality radiation therapy to its patients with cancer using cutting edge technology and works closely with provincial cancer site teams to ensure delivery of high-quality care to patients. The Division provides all radiation oncology services within the city of Ottawa and surrounding region, with a population of over 1.4 million. The Division also fulfills its academic role through undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activities.

The successful candidate will lead the Division of Radiation Oncology by:

•Fulfilling the role of Division Head for the Ottawa Hospital and for the University of Ottawa as well as the Head of the Radiation Medicine Program.
•Supporting and advising the Department Head as required on all hospital strategic and policy initiatives affecting division clinical functions.
•Providing clinical leadership, support, and coaching tomedical staff within the Division.
•Working collaboratively with Regional Cancer Program leaders to advance care quality and safety.
•Ensuring that the goals of Ontario Cancer Plan VI are met.

The Ideal Applicant meets the following qualifications:

•Seasoned leader with a proven track record of engaging teams to effectively deliver clinical services.
•A collaborative leadership style that promotes academic excellence in education and/or research in alignment with the mission, vision, values, policies and objectives of the FoM and TOH;
•Outstanding record in patient care, teaching, academic leadership and research;
•A minimum 5 years’ experience working as a consultant radiation oncologist with either RCPS Ccertification or equivalent.
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills;•Prior experience in a leadership position in the development and implementation of strategic planning across stakeholders;
•University rank of Associate or Full Professor;
•Eligibility for medical licensure in Ontario; and
•Fluency in one official language with at least a passive knowledge of the other.

Compensation:
Compensation will be both competitive and commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience. The duration of the appointment would be up to 5 years, renewable once.
