General Practitioner in Radiation Oncology

Join one of the world's renowned cancer organizations. BC Cancer is looking for a General Practitioner in Radiation Oncology to join its team in beautiful Victoria. This site offers a full range of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, and support services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials and Patient and Family Counseling. BC Cancer – Victoria also partners with a network of community centres such as Nanaimo, BC, so that patients can continue to receive systemic therapy in their local communities.

The successful applicant will:

  • Work with a team of specialized radiation oncologists and allied health professionals and participate exclusively in the care of Oncology patients.

  • Participate in the ambulatory care treatment and follow up of patients.

  • Support in-patient care of patients receiving treatment 

The funding for the position is set at a maximum of 1.0 FTE. However, the opportunity is flexible and could be offered to more than one candidate who is interested in working in the role part-time on a permanent basis. Service contract and salary options are available. 

What you bring:

  • Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. (FRCP, FRCS or CCFP)

  • Eligibility for appointment to medical staff of BC Cancer, and Royal Jubilee Hospital.

  • Eligibility for appointment to the University of British Columbia.

  • In-patient and oncology experience is an asset but is not required. No previous experience in radiation oncology is required; BC Cancer will support your training, involving both didactic virtual teaching, and in-clinic patient-related instruction.

  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
