Call for Nominations are now open for the CIHR – Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) &Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology (CARO)!
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made outstanding research contributions and demonstrated significant impact in radiation oncology research.
The recipient will receive $1,500.00. The joint award will be presented at the 2026 CARO Annual Scientific Meeting in St. John’s, Newfoundland on September 12, 2026.
Criteria:
Must have an academic appointment in Canada.
Be a CARO member in good standing.
Be able to highlight and provide details of an outstanding contribution in the last 18 months.
Agree to have their names released as recipients of the award and to be featured on CIHR-ICR’s various communication channels (e.g., website, social media, newsletter).
How to apply: Complete the Nomination Form.
Provide the nominee’s Curriculum Vitae.
A written statement by the nominator highlighting the details of the individual’s contribution and its impacts.
Provide in detail how the funds from this joint award will be used (e.g. travel for presentations). Funds from this award cannot be used to directly support the cost of research activities.
Deadline: July 31, 2026

Call for Nominations are now open for the CIHR – Institute of Cancer Research & Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology (CARO) Early Career Researcher Award!
The purpose of this award is to recognize an Early Career Researcher who has made a significant research contribution to radiation oncology research.
The recipient will receive $1,500.00. The joint award will be presented at the 2026 CARO Annual Scientific Meeting in St. John’s Newfoundland on September 12, 2026.
Criteria:
An Early Career Researcher is defined as a researcher within five years of the date of their first independent research-related appointment. Eligible leaves and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will be taken into account. Refer to the CIHR definition for Early Career Researcher.
Must have an academic appointment in Canada.
Be a CARO member in good standing.
Be able to highlight and provide details of an outstanding contribution.
Agree to have their names released as recipients of the award and to be featured on CIHR-ICR’s various communication channels (e.g., website, social media, newsletter).
