CROF Run/Walk Route

This route will take attendees along the waterside on Harbour Drive and Water Street.

Walkers: Turn at the Harbourside park and take the same route back. (3.1 km)

Runners: Turn at the Terry Fox Mile Zero Memorial Site and take the same route back. (4.4 km)

Optional Additional Hiking Routes

St John’s Newfoundland has many incredible hiking routes and beautiful landscapes. Here are some additional optional hiking routes that can be done at your leisure.

Route Descriptions:

Blue Route - The CROF Walk/Run Route: Starts at the hotel and goes for 2.3km. This is the same CROF run route, but rather than turning back at the Terry Fox Mile Zero Memorial, attendees will turn left at Temperance St making their way to the Battery Cafe. All hikers can walk this route together before splitting off to whichever hike route they choose.

Green route - The Quidi Vidi Lake Loop: This is the flattest and easiest route available and has shops and restaurants along the way. This route is wheelchair accessible as well. Total distance including the walk from and back to the hotel is 10.2km. There is the option to walk 1 km further at the far end of the lake to stop for food and drinks at Quidi Vidi brewery (this is about halfway through the loop). The out and back jut out can be seen at the far end of the lake. This is a good route for those who wish to walk casually and stop for food/shopping along the way.

Purple route – Signal Hill Out and Back: This route is an out and back route that views Queen’s Battery, Harbor Vista Deck and Signal Hill. This route is shorter than the orange route, however, is still challenging and gains 195m of elevation, which requires the use of stairs. Total distance including the walk from and back to the hotel is 7.9 km.

Orange route – Large Signal Hill Loop: This route is a loop that explores Outer Battery Road, Queen's Battery, Gibbett Hill, and Ladie’s Lookout. This route also passes the Narrows, Hay Cove, Rolls Cove and Fort Waldegrave. The attendees will follow the blue route until signal hill, then will continue along the purple route back to battery road, and join up with the red route back to the hotel. This route is the longest and most challenging of them all. It has 240m of elevation gain, stairs and some narrow passages that requires good footwear. Total distance including the walk from and back to the hotel is 11 km.
