  • Clinical Research Radiation Oncology Fellowship - BC Cancer and University of British Columbia – Radiation Therapy Program

    Locations: Abbotsford, Kelowna, Prince George, Surrey, Vancouver, Victoria

    Training Experience Required
    The ideal candidate recently completed (≤3 years) or is in their final year of specialist training in Radiation Oncology. Candidates should have demonstrated prior academic or research productivity or show an interest in this area.

  • Fellowships Positions in Calgary Summer 2027

    The Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Oncology is seeking applications for at least 2 Fellowship Positions to begin July 1, 2027.

    Clinical and research activities will focus on MR-Linac, brachytherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), patient reported outcomes, and/or health services research, but other areas of specialization can be accommodated based on the successful candidate’s interest.

    For candidates interested in both prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy, our fellowship program is an accredited Area of Focused Competence (AFC) in Brachytherapy training program with successful completion leading to a Diploma of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (DRCPSC).

    One fellowship position will be dedicated to the Person Centered Radiation Oncology Service Enhancement (PROSE) program – a department wide initiative to systematically integrate patient-reported outcomes into routine clinical care.

    These one-year fellowships will provide an opportunity to gain clinical expertise, research and publication productivity. The Division of Radiation Oncology has close collaborations with the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute.

    The newly opened Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre is a leading health care facility, academic, and research centre that provides cancer services for Calgary and Southern Alberta. The Arthur Child has 10 Linacs and 2 MR-Linacs. There are two MRIs dedicated for simulation and brachytherapy, as well as orthovoltage, a CT simulator, and a PET-CT simulator. Clinical radiotherapy programs include MR-Linac, prostate and gyne brachytherapy, SBRT, TBI, pediatric cancers and stereotactic radiosurgery.

    With a population of 1.3 million, Calgary is the third-largest city in Canada. Located 80km from the Canadian Rockies, Calgary consistently ranks as one of the most livable cities in the world. Many of our prior fellows have found permanent staff positions across Canada.

    Candidates must have successfully completed Radiation Oncology specialty training and have a track-record for academic productivity. In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. The University of Calgary respects, appreciates, and honours diversity. Strong preference will be given to candidates who provide results of successful completion of an English Language Proficiency test in the last 18 months, if one is required per College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta.

  • Breast / CNS Clinical Fellowship, The Ottawa Hospital

    Location: The Ottawa Hospital, ON, Canada

    The Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) of The Ottawa Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Fellow in Radiation Oncology with a specific focus on Breast and CNS malignancies beginning July 1, 2027. 

    This is a year-long fellowship, at the end of which the fellow will have developed subspecialty expertise in the radiotherapeutic management of Breast and CNS malignancies. There will be a particular emphasis on advanced techniques used in both tumour sites, such as Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) for local, regional, or distant tumour sites. The fellowship will combine clinical service with clinically oriented research, with a minimum of 50% of time protected for research activities. 

    The specific objectives are to:
    ·        Develop subspecialty expertise in VMAT and SBRT for breast and CNS malignancies, including SRS/SBRT for the treatment of brain, spine, and oligometastatic disease.  
    ·        Participate in a comprehensive portfolio of multicentre and cooperative group trials, as well as local research studies.  
    ·        Attend and actively contribute to the Centre’s weekly multidisciplinary breast, neuro-oncology, and neurosurgery tumour boards.  
    ·        Conduct research projects in breast and/or CNS oncology, with the expectation of presenting findings at national or international meetings and producing at least two first-author peer-reviewed publications. Potential projects may include secondary analyses of existing intra-departmental datasets (e.g., partial breast irradiation cohorts), implementation of an MR-Linac breast study, or investigations involving surface-guided radiation therapy in collaboration with medical physics.  
    ·        Pursue optional short rotations in breast surgery to gain insight into surgical indications and techniques, and/or in medical oncology to enhance understanding of systemic therapies and ongoing clinical trials. 

    Candidates must be competent in both spoken and written English. Applicants from Canada and abroad are welcome to apply but preference will be given to Canadian applicants or those with permanent residency status who have successfully completed board certification.

    Our radiation medicine program is spread over two physical sites and has a cadre of modern equipment for simulation, planning and delivery making it one of the best equipped centers in Canada. The program delivers 7000 courses of radiotherapy per year and routinely uses advanced techniques such as VMAT, stereotactic radiotherapy for all treatment sites as well as adaptive radiotherapy (including an MRI linear accelerator).

  • Fellowship Program

    Location: McMaster University, Hamilton, ON

    The primary objective of this 1-2 year fellowship is to provide training and research opportunities in technological advances in radiation therapy. Several streams are available for successful candidates in applications of IMRT, high dose rate brachytherapy, VMAT and stereotactic radiation therapy. Potential sites of interest include breast, prostate/kidney/ bladder (GU), lung, esophageal, head and neck, gynecological, central nervous system, as well as bone and oligometastases. Training will also be provided in principles and methods of scientific research in the areas of clinical trials, health services, and translational research including technology evaluations in radiation oncology.

    The Juravinski Cancer Centre provides radiotherapy to a large number of patients from Central West Ontario. Approximately 5000 new patients are seen yearly. The Centre is a leading accruer to radiation oncology clinical trials and works with a number of cooperative groups. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary staff at the Trials Research and Clinical Evidence (TRACE) and participate in completed and ongoing trials.

    McMaster University is renowned for its programs in translational, clinical research and clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. The one year clinical fellowship offers trainees with the opportunity to enroll in the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology. The GDCE builds on the strengths of the internationally respected Health Research Methods (HRM) Graduate Programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences.     The two year clinical research fellowship provides fellows with an opportunity to obtain a Master’s in either Health Research Methodology; Health Policy; Health Science Education; or Medical Sciences within the Graduate Studies Programs offered at McMaster University.   • Fellowship Position

    Location: University of Alberta, Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, AB

    Applications are invited from junior faculty or trainees in their final year of specialist training in Radiation Oncology for a one-year fellowship commencing by 1 July 2027. Opportunities exist in most disease sites including SBRT, Brachytherapy, Gastrointestinal, Lung, Gynecology, Breast and Head and Neck.
    Candidates will be expected to spend approximately 30% of their time devoted to research and 70% to clinical duties, with some flexibility based on specific interests of the fellow and departmental needs.
    Completion of scholarly activity with appropriate staff guidance and within the tenure of the fellowship is required, with an expectation of presentation of data at a national and/or international meeting, and at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Clinical duties may include new patient or follow-up clinics, on-treatment review or inpatient coverage.
    The Cross Cancer Institute, affiliated with the University of Alberta, is a free-standing comprehensive cancer treatment and research facility, and the tertiary referral centre for Northern Alberta. The division of Radiation Oncology serves a population base of 1.5 million people and treats more than 4000 patients per year. We have two wide-bore CT simulators with 4D capability. We are well-equipped for the delivery of conformal, intensity-modulated, RapidArc, and stereotactic body radiotherapy, as well as low dose rate, high dose rate, surface, intraoperative and ocular brachytherapy. We offer both linac-based and Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. There is a comprehensive, integrated provincial IT network comprising electronic medical record and digital imaging systems. We have a strong record of basic, translational and clinical research, including national and international clinical trial activity and cooperative group membership.
