The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada invites you to attend the 2007 Annual Conference,
Crossroads: the future of specialty medicine and medical education amid evolving health care, September 27-29 in Winnipeg. The field of health care is changing at an ever accelerating pace. This pace is driven by many factors such as developments in health care delivery, advances in technology, and changes in population and physician demographics. In many ways the health care community finds itself at a crossroads, with many paths to choose from to shape the future of specialty medicine, medical education and health care.
The Royal College’s Annual Conference will provide a dynamic and interactive meeting environment, through workshops, poster sessions, paper sessions and plenary sessions, to discuss the way forward for specialists and specialty medicine by focusing on
- aligning the medical specialties for the 21st Century,
- changing models of care delivery,
- practice-based lifelong learning, and
- enhancing residency education.
Why you should attend
Join leaders in medical education, health policy and specialist practice to
- discuss and debate the issues that face the specialist of today and tomorrow, such as the future structure of postgraduate medical education (PGME) in Canada;
- be a part of the new national showcase for research in residency education, faculty development, health policy and continuing professional development by submitting research or attending paper and poster sessions;
- get the first look at data from the RCPSC–CFPC Core Competency Project on the future of PGME;
- explore timely health policy topics such as planning the interprofessional health care work force;
- examine the connections between contemporary practice and our historical context through the History of Medicine symposium;
- network with national and international colleagues; and
- earn valuable MOC credits.
Young clinician-scientists will present their research and have the opportunity to learn from experienced senior scientist mentors within the Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation Annual Conference.
